Renofique is written by James, who renovates houses in the UK — not for a living, but because he enjoys it.
Across two full gut renovations — the kind where everything old comes out and everything new goes back in — he specified and project-managed the roof glazing: a window put into a windowless box room to get daylight into it, and a skylight in an attic that made the room feel close to twice the size. One of those projects took in a garden-room conversion alongside the rest of the house.
What he is not: a fitter, a surveyor, or a tradesperson of any kind. He has never cut a hole in a roof himself and would not advise you to. What he has done is gather the quotes, compare the brands on paper and in the showroom, argue about lead times, and pay the invoices — which is the same position most people reading this site are in.
That's the vantage point the guides are written from, and it's why they concentrate on what the work actually costs, which brands justify their premium, and the things a merchant won't volunteer — rather than how to fit a roof window, which is a job for someone qualified.
Every guide here is researched against current UK prices, manufacturer documentation and planning rules, and each page shows the date it was last updated. Where we link to products we may earn a commission — see our affiliate disclosure — but that never decides what we recommend.
Renofique carries advertising served by Google AdSense, alongside affiliate links. Ads are what keep the guides free to read; they have no bearing on what we recommend. See our privacy policy for how advertising cookies are used.
